Blondel Dupre

Dupre in 2109

Blondel Dupre was the leader of the Democratic Urge, a pro-Democracy movement in Mega-City One.

In 2109, she was instrumental in organising the Democratic Charter March, but was arrested after it was framed for violence by the Judges. As she was taken away, she defiantly told Dredd the people would win in the end. [1]

When a guilty Dredd released her several years later, however, she had been emotionally broken by her time in the cubes.

As the call for democracy grew, Blondel continued her role as a key leader of the democracy movement. She was the figurehead of the democratic option in the 2113 referendum, appearing on TV to discuss how the Hunters Club "Death Aid" murders showed Justice Department couldn't control the city as they claimed.[2] However, she was increasingly unsure if the democrats could indeed run the city and unsure they could do better than Dredd.

You are the law Dredd

When the vote was lost to the Judges, she first led a riot to the Grand Hall of Justice on assumption the Judges had rigged it. Dredd forced her to accept that the people had voted against democracy and pressured her to admit "you are the law" in front of her followers. Afterwards, she told her partner she was disillusioned with democracy and accepted that the Judges had to be in place [3].

Sometime later, Dupre was killed - and in the 2140s, Dredd discovered she'd been murdered by Smiley's Black Ops Division, who had seen her as still posing a potential threat to the city's status quo.[4]
