Judge Slocum served as Head of the Special Judicial Squad (SJS) under Judge Cal, Slocum played a significant role during the storyline "The Day the Law Died."
Character biography[]
As Head of the SJS, the internal affairs division of Mega-City One's Justice Department, Slocum was closely aligned with Judge Cal, who ascended to the position of Chief Judge through nefarious means. Slocum's loyalty to Cal was evident, as he executed orders that furthered Cal's despotic rule. However, as Cal's tyranny intensified, Slocum began to question his allegiance, recognizing the extent of Cal's madness.
Notable Actions[]
- Manipulation of Judges Percy and Glass: After Judges Percy and Glass failed to apprehend Judge Dredd and Judge Giant, Slocum devised a scheme to spare them from execution. He instructed them to appear before Cal dressed in knee-length dresses, claiming that Deputy Chief Judge Fish, Cal's pet goldfish, had ordered this as their punishment. To avoid contradicting his pet, Cal allowed the judges to live in their new attire.
- Assassination of Judge Fish: Under covert instructions from Judge Dredd, Slocum assassinated Judge Fish to create an omen that would halt Cal's mass executions of citizens. He convinced Cal that the simultaneous deaths of Judge Fish and the first citizen executed were a sign that if the people died, so would the Judges. This manipulation led Cal to reconsider his plans, albeit temporarily.

Demise[]
As Cal's paranoia grew, he perceived Slocum's doubts as a threat. Consequently, Cal had Slocum immobilized and submerged in a large glass container filled with vinegar, effectively "pickling" him alive. This gruesome punishment was a testament to Cal's escalating insanity and served as a grim end for Slocum.
